Double Podium for Palmer at Knockhill

Will Palmer enjoyed a very successful weekend at Knockhill for rounds thirteen and fourteen of the Ginetta Junior Championship, taking two podiums.

The weekend started on a high for Will, who topped the practice session, leaving him confident ahead of qualifying. In qualifying itself, Will was unable to once again go top, but two fast laps meant he would start both races from third on the grid.

In race one a good start saw Palmer take second at the first corner, and on the second lap he capitalised on a mistake by Harry Woodhead to take the lead of the race. However, under pressure from Keith Donegan, a small mistake at the chicane caused Will to slip down to sixth.

Undeterred, Palmer was quickly on the back of James Kellet for fifth and managed to pass him under braking for turn three. Ollie Chadwick then went off at the chicane promoting Will to fourth, and he then put in a series of quick times to get on the back of the leading three of Donegan, Woodhead and Jackson. Will was then able to pass Jackson at the chicane on the last lap to take third place and his seventh podium of the year.

In race two, another good start saw Will hold third place as Keith Donegan took the lead from Harry Woodhead. On lap two Woodhead passed Donegan at turn three, and Palmer was able to follow him through at turn four to move into second place.

A chain of fast, consistent laps meant Will was able to then pull away from the chasing pack, but could only match his teammate Woodhead who won the race, with Palmer crossing the line just over a second behind him.

"Overall I'm very happy with how this weekend has gone; it's good to finally take two podiums in one weekend, and I now need to carry this consistency through to the remaining three rounds of the championship to secure second place in the championship. I took my first ever podium at Rockingham so hopefully I can have another strong weekend there in three weeks time."

Will is next in action on the 14th September at Rockingham for rounds fifteen and sixteen of the Ginetta Junior Championship.
