Will set for Eurocup debut at Silverstone

BRDC Formula 4 Championship leader Will Palmer is set to make his Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 debut this weekend (5/6 September) at Silverstone, with three races held on the Grand Prix circuit at the Northamptonshire track.

He will compete against a field of over 30 drivers in the Eurocup series, which forms part of the prestigious World Series by Renault package, headlined by Formula Renault 3.5 - a feeder series to Formula One. Other drivers on the grid at Silverstone include former BRDC F4 alumni Matthew Graham, Charlie Eastwood and 2013 champion Jake Hughes.

It will be Will's first experience of the series as he continues to compete in his sophomore season in the Duo BRDC Formula 4 Championship, which he currently leads by 74 points with just six races remaining. The 18-year-old from Southwater has claimed eight victories so far this year in addition to two podium finishes, putting him on the verge of claiming the title as the championship heads to Donington Park (12/13 September) for the penultimate round of the 2015 season.

The BRDC Rising Star will drive for the ART Junior Team this weekend, one of the most respected squad's competing in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 series. Based in Nieul-sur-Mer, France, the team has achieved numerous race wins in the category, and claimed a third-place overall finish with the current FIA Formula 3 European Champion Esteban Ocon in 2013.

Will said: "I'm really looking forward to racing in the Eurocup series this weekend. I've had one afternoon in the car with the team in France and I really enjoyed driving it, so hopefully I will be able to get down to pace quickly on Friday and have a good weekend from there."
