Hungaroring next up for Will as Northern European Cup heads to Budapest

The third round of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup takes place this weekend (18/19 June) at the Hungaroring F1 circuit on the outskirts of Budapest in Hungary, with Will Palmer looking to build on an impressive start to the 2016 season.

The R-ace GP driver has been in good form through the first two meetings of the Northern European Cup, at Monza and Silverstone respectively. He claimed a superb podium in race two of the weekend in Italy, coming out on top following a race-long duel with fellow Brit Lando Norris. Such was the BRDC Superstar's pace, he was involved in the battle with Jehan Daruvala for second but had to settle for the final spot on the podium in the end.

At Silverstone, the 19-year-old claimed a double podium finish at his home race in Great Britain, coming home third in race one before driving a controlled race to take the runner-up position in race two. Those strong performances have moved him up to fourth in the overall standings on 72 points, just 28 behind championship leader Dorian Boccolacci.

Will said: "Budapest is one of the most technical tracks on the calendar, so whilst I've never driven there before, I'm massively looking forward to the challenge of it this weekend. Since Monaco, we have had a test at Red Bull Ring which went very well, so I feel confident that we can be quick in Hungary as well to carry on our good form in the NEC."

Two races will be held around the 2.7-mile Formula 1 venue with free practice one getting underway on Saturday at 09:30 (GMT+2), with free practice two following at 12:15. Qualifying takes place the same day at 17:15 before race one starts at 10:00 on Sunday. The second and final race of the weekend gets underway at 14:10.
