Will aiming for podium repeat at high-speed Monza

Will Palmer is looking to claim his second Monza podium finish of the season this weekend (2/3 July), as he returns to the Italian circuit for round three of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship. The Southwater racer took a brilliant third place in race two of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup meeting at the Formula 1 venue earlier in the year, and is now looking to achieve similar strong results across the three Eurocup races this weekend.

The R-ace GP driver has been in impressive form in 2016, racking up a number of top-three finishes in the Northern European Cup (NEC), and was unfortunate to only claim a ninth place finish in the last Eurocup round at Monaco after a determined drive was halted by a red flag as he advanced up the order.

In the opening round of the season, he took a creditable sixth place finish at Motorland Aragon in Spain and has also been in stellar form in NEC, racking up three podium finishes including two at Silverstone, in addition to his top-three finish in Monza.

Will said: "I'm really looking forward to getting back in action at Monza this weekend. We have a bit of ground to make up in the Eurocup standings but after a podium the last time I was here, I'm confident we can make a lot of progress this weekend."

The action at Monza this weekend kicks off with two Free Practice sessions, lasting 50 minutes, on Friday before qualifying gets underway on the Saturday at 08:00 BST, with race one following at 13:35. The second race also takes place on Saturday, at 16:45 BST, before Sunday's racing commences with qualifying ahead of race three at 07:30 BST. Lights out to begin the third and final encounter of the weekend takes place at 13:30 BST.
