Glamorous Monte Carlo next up for Will in Monaco Grand Prix support race

Will Palmer will tackle the famous streets of Monaco this weekend (27-29 May) as the second round of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 category takes place on the roads of the legendary principality, supporting the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The R-ace GP driver has been in impressive form so far this year, claiming a rookie podium in the first Eurocup round of 2016 held at Motorland Aragon in Spain. The 19-year-old stormed to a sixth-place overall finish in race two of the weekend in April, ending the race as the second highest placed rookie. The 2015 BRDC Formula 4 Champion has also been performing strongly in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup, taking a third place finish at Monza in Italy before taking a superb double podium at Silverstone earlier this month.

The Eurocup race will mark the Southwater racer's maiden appearance on a street track as he takes on the 2.074 mile Circuit de Monaco, which features the iconic Casino Square section, Loews Hairpin and instantly recognisable tunnel. Will's is aiming to follow in the footsteps of his elder brother and Renault Sport F1 driver Jolyon, who won in Monaco by claiming victory in the GP2 sprint race in 2012 before claiming a feature race win in 2014.

Will said: "I am massively looking forward to Monaco as it is a very different challenge. There is no room for errors, you've got to be very precise and we also don't have a lot of track time so it is going to be a big challenge to get up to speed as quickly as possible. We've had two thirds and one second recently so the aim is to go one better now. It would be a great achievement though to be on the podium at such a historic track."

Practice will take place on Friday at 08:00 (07:00 BST) before qualifying gets underway at 09:00 (09:00 BST) on Saturday. The 25 minute and one lap race precedes the Formula 1 Grand Prix on Sunday, with lights out at 11:10 (10:10 BST).
