Palmer’s championship challenge continues in Austria this weekend

Will Palmer is in Formula Renault Eurocup action for a third time this month at the Red Bull Ring in Austria this weekend (22/23 July). Will is to appear in two races across the weekend, and he has a very good chance of regaining the championship lead as he lies in third overall, just nine points adrift, with 25 available for a win.

The BRDC Superstar heads to the Spielberg circuit in fine form, following an impressive season so far in which he has led the championship longer than any other driver, and collecting three victories along the way, including one on Monaco Grand Prix weekend.

Will has suffered from a few sports of bad luck at the last two meetings in Hungary and Germany, but he has managed the damage masterfully to maintain control of his championship challenge. Indeed, were it not for an electrical glitch at the Hungaroring, the R-ace GP driver would have collected points in every race of the season so far.

This weekend will mark a second appearance at the Red Bull Ring for Will, who was a top-six challenger when he visited the venue in last season's Eurocup. Given Will's continued development as a driver this year, there is plenty of reason to be optimistic ahead of this weekend.

This weekend's double-header at the 4.3km F1 venue marks the end of a busy summer period for the Sussex driver, before the final championship run in begins at Paul Ricard, France, in just over a month's time.
