Frustrating Sunday for Palmer

After qualifying an excellent sixth, just over three tenths from pole, Will Palmer was optimistic of strong race performances at the opening rounds of the Ginetta Junior Championship at Brands Hatch. Dissapointingly however, incidents prevented Will from getting better than a DNF and a tenth.

In race one, Palmer got too much wheelspin off the line getting very sideways, though did well to recover, completing the first lap in seventh place.

Will then managed to pass Niall Murray for sixth, and was closing in on Harry Woodhead for fifth at the back of the leading pack. With Will feeling confident of keeping up with the lead battle, he was unfortunately caught out by a big oversteer, spinning at Clearways, putting him in the gravel and ending his race, to Will's immense frustration.

In race two, Palmer maintained sixth place off the line, witha better start, but running wide at Clearways on lap two relegated him to seventh place behind Andrew Watson.

Palmer was then attacking Watson, but was later passed by Pepe Massot into eighth place, though Palmer did repass him with an excellent pass on the inside into Clearways, and was bearing down on Watson until the last lap.

Unfortunately, Will made the error of thinking the race was over a lap earlier than it was. This meant that he fell down to tenth before realising his error.

"Today was frustrating, as I could have had a good result in race one if I had not spun, and in race two I was much quicker than those in front, and could have been with the lead group if I had not got stuck in traffic. However, I have learnt a huge amount this weekend which I will be able to call upon at the next round at Donington, which should hopefully help me achieve better results later on."

Will is next out in two weeks at Donington Park for the second round of the Ginetta Junior Championship.
