Strong fourth place finish for Palmer

Will Palmer put his Donington woes behind him today at Thruxton, taking a career best fourth place finish in round five of the Ginetta Junior Championship.

This followed on from a good qualifying performance in the wet, which saw Palmer take seventh for race one and fifth for race two.

In the dry race, Will lost two places off the start, but was back into seventh by the end of the lap following a pass on Keith Donegan at the very fast Church corner and Ollie Chadwick running wide at the same corner.

The next lap, Palmer passed Fielding at the same corner, before replicating the move for a third time on Pepe Massot the lap after.

With Will now in fifth place he set about catching Andrew Watson for fourth. After three laps of chasing him down, two laps of dicing ensued between the two, with Palmer eventually making the pass around the outside of Campbell corner.

With the two in front of Will now a margin ahead, Palmer managed to close the gap, but it was too great for him to catch them, meaning Will finished a great fourth place, with HHC teammate Charlie Robertson taking the win, from Niall Murray and Harry Woodhead

"Today was really good; in qualifying we know we should really have been higher up, as I made a mistake on my fastest lap which could have put me third. The race was really fun, with a lot of racing with other cars, and to come away with a fourth place finish is really good, and I head into tomorrow's race aiming for my first podium."

Will is next in action tomorrow at 13 35 for round six of the Ginetta Junior Championship at Thruxton, with the race being covered live on ITV4.
