Disappointing results despite strong pace at Snetterton

Will Palmer took an eighth and an eleventh place finish from round six of the Ginetta Junior Championship at Snetterton last weekend.

Will started the weekend well, coming seventh in opening practice before finishing fifth in the second, despite completing only four laps.

Then on Saturday, Palmer was only able to complete half of his outlap before an engine failure resulted in him having to sit out the remainder of the session.

Despite this, Will managed to take sixth in a very close qualifying session, with the pace to be higher up had he hooked his sectors together.

In race one, Palmer did not get off the line well and was then pushed wide at Montreal hairpin on lap one, leaving him down in tenth place. He then resisted pressure from Freddie Lee and began chasing down Tom Jackson ahead.

However, Jackson spun across the track on lap three, with Will unfortunately having to spin to avoid him. He then passed back Jackson and Elliot Paterson to finish eleventh.

In race two, a good getaway from seventh and an outbraking manoeuvre on Pepe Massot at turn one left Will in fifth place, but he was pushed wide onto the dust at turn three while battling with Harry Woodhead, dropping him back down to ninth.

He then passed Sennan Fielding and Oliver Basey-Fisher to climb back to sixth on lap two, but lost three places avoiding Pepe Massot at Coram on the same lap.

Palmer then passed Oliver Basey-Fisher back at the tricky Coram right hander, and began to chase Keith Donegan, and despite bringing down the gap, it was too large, with Will finishing in eighth place.

Speaking after the weekend, Will said "This race day has been a very frustrating one after a solid qualifying result yesterday, especially considering we had the pace to mix it right at the front. We have some things to look at between now and Knockhill, and hopefully we can come back stronger there in two weeks time."
