Palmer takes superb win at Rockingham

Will Palmer enjoyed an excellent weekend at Rockingham with the highlight being a fantastic win in the second race.

After once again topping Saturday's practice session Will went into qualifying feeling very confident of being able to qualify on the front row which he did, qualifying second for both races after just missing out on pole.

Off the start of race one Will made a good start to take the lead, but a lockup into the first corner meant he was shuffled down to fifth. He then pulled off a good move on Tom Jackson for fourth before catching Ollie Chadwick for third.

Palmer and then Chadwick then enjoyed a long and exciting scrap for third for the remainder of the race, often going side by side, but Will was unable to find a way past so had to settle for fourth. Meanwhile, teammate James Kellet secured an excellent maiden win from Harry Woodhead.

Race two started in greasy conditions and Palmer once again took the lead off the start. After four laps Will had built up a good gap to the cars behind, but the rain then began to fall which made the track very treacherous.

Palmer then came under pressure from Keith Donegan for the lead in the final few laps, but was able to hold him off to take his first ever win in Ginetta Juniors.

A delighted Palmer said after the race "It's fantastic to finally take a win after coming so close before, especially given the very tricky conditions. I have also managed to take second place back in the championship, so hopefully with four more strong results at Silverstone and Brands Hatch I will secure runner-up spot."

Will is next in action in two weeks time at Silverstone for rounds seventeen and eighteen of the Ginetta Junior Championship.
