Palmer doubles up at Snetterton with second victory

HHC Motorsport's Will Palmer claimed his second win of the weekend at Snetterton, with a commanding drive in race three this afternoon (Sunday).

HHC locked out the top-three on the podium with Sennan Fielding and Raoul Hyman finishing second and third, the first time any team has completely filled the podium positions.

From pole position, Palmer made a good start to lead the field down to Riches on lap one while Fielding jumped Hyman on the run down to turn one to take second, with Hyman slotting into third.

Further back, SWR's Diego Borrelli was eliminated from the race after hitting the barriers at Montreal hairpin, bringing out the safety car for the second race in succession, while Chris Middlehurst pitted with damage to the front of his car, but was able to continue.

The safety car pitted at the end of lap three and Palmer built up a lead of over a second from Fielding on the first racing lap. The gap extended to 1.4 seconds on the next lap but Fielding began to claw his way back, with the pair separated by 0.6s at the flag. Their team mate Hyman was 1.3s further back, Hyman having dropped behind Arjun Maini on the opening lap before fighting back to take third on lap four.

"It's been amazing weekend," Palmer commented afterwards. "I almost got pole yesterday, a great win in race one and now another win today, it's absolutely fantastic.

"I have to say a huge thanks to the team. HHC have given me a fantastic car this weekend and for the team to get a 1-2-3 result is a massive achievement.

"I managed to get a bit of a jump on the restart and after that it was a fairly standard race for me and I just kept pushing to get the win.

"I've been getting stronger with each round and Snetterton is a good track for me. We're at Oulton Park next, I've already tested there and it's been a good track for me as well. Hopefully we can have another good weekend there and aim for another win to continue my title challenge."

Reigning British GT Champion Andrew Howard presented Will with his trophy on the podium.

Palmer's win sees him move up into third in the championship standings ahead of Arjun Maini. George Russell continues to lead the way for Lanan Racing on 216 points, 21 points clear of Raoul Hyman, with Palmer a further 10 points further back.
