Strong running for Will on second day of Abu Dhabi GP3 test

Will Palmer enjoyed another strong day's running at the official GP3 Series post-season test held in Abu Dhabi, as he took to the Yas Marina Circuit with the French DAMS squad today (December 3). The 18-year-old completed 55 laps of the 3.45-mile track and finished 13th and 15th fastest in the morning and afternoon sessions respectively, improving on his quickest lap from the day before.

Will, the 2015 BRDC Formula 4 Champion, drove for the Le-Mans based DAMS squad for the second of three day's running, having got behind the wheel of one of Arden International's GP3 cars yesterday. The test marks DAMS first foray into GP3 ahead of its full-time introduction into the series next season and the team ran with the cars and assistance from Status GP, as it awaits the delivery of its new machines. On the final day of running tomorrow, the Southwater racer will drive for ART Grand Prix, part of his prize package for winning this year's BRDC F4 title.

In the first two-and-a-half hour session of the day Will racked up 29 laps, second only to Nirei Fukuzumi who recorded 30 tours of the circuit. He posted a fastest time of 1m56.757s, a slight improvement from his quickest lap from the day before, and finished the morning test in 13th position.

After lunch, Will once again made the most of the track time and completed 26 laps, taking his total across the day to 55, and recorded a fastest time of 1m57.145s, good enough for 15th place. Trident's Antonio Fuoco was fastest on the second day of the test, his time laid down in the morning session. Will's fellow McLaren Autosport BRDC Award nominee Jack Aitken was quickest in the afternoon, slightly slower than Fuoco's best time earlier in the day.

The third and final day of the post-season GP3 Series test takes place tomorrow with Will enjoying an entire day's running with ART Grand Prix, part of the prize package for the 2015 BRDC Formula 4 Champion.
