Will enjoys GP3 prize test in Abu Dhabi

BRDC Formula 4 Champion Will Palmer enjoyed a full day's running with the ART Grand Prix team in the post-season GP3 Series test at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, as part of his prize for winning the 2015 BRDC F4 title. The 18-year-old completed 61 laps of the 3.75-mile track and posted the 12th fastest time across the day.

Having driven for Arden International and DAMS on the first and second days of the three-day test respectively, Will switched to the cockpit of an ART car for the final day's running. In the morning's two-and-a-half hour session two red flags interrupted running but that aside, all 21 drivers were able to complete lots of running with Will racking up a total of 27 laps, and posting the 16th fastest time with a 1m56.994s.

After lunch, Will significantly improved his time and ended the session in 12th position, with a personal best lap of 1m55.910s, his quickest time of the week. He completed 34 tours of the circuit, taking his total for the day to 61, as the post-season test came to a close.

Former BRDC Formula 4 drivers including Rahul Raj Mayer and 2013 Champion Jake were also present at the test, with Hughes particularly impressing to finish third fastest in the final session; Mayer was 21st and 19th quickest across the two sessions respectively.

Will said: "Today was a good way to end the test - ART were really good to work with and I managed to improve a lot from the previous two days. Unfortunately I caught a red flag on what would have been my best lap on a new tyre run, so I had a few tenths in there which is encouraging.

"I have to say a huge thanks to BRDC Formula 4 for my amazing prize - to test in GP3 alone was amazing but to do so with the champion team was even better!"
