More pre-season test for Will at Hockenheim next week

Will Palmer heads to Germany next week (21-22 March) for the final Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup test ahead of the opening round of his season in less than one month's time. Two days of testing will take place at Hockenheim on Monday and Tuesday, with Will looking to build on the strong progress he has made over the winter in his R-ACE GP machine.

The Hockenheim test was not originally part of the pre-season schedule but has been rapidly organised owing to the cancellation of last week's Nurburgring test, which was shelved due to snow and icy conditions.

The 2.842-mile circuit in the Baden-Wurttemberg region of Germany will host the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC season-finale on October 1/2 and this will be Will's first experience of the F1 venue. In recent testing, the Southwater racer has been one of the fastest rookies as he finished 11th fastest overall in Paul Ricard earlier this month, fourth of the first year drivers.

Prior to that, the 19-year-old, who won the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award in 2015, ended the opening pre-season test of the season held at Motorland Aragon in Spain ninth fastest, once again good enough to be the fourth fastest rookie.

The 2015 BRDC Formula 4 Champion will contest campaigns in both Formula Renault Eurocup and the Northern European Cup this year, both with the French R-ACE GP team. The first race of Will's season takes place on the 16/17 April at Aragon in the Eurocup, with the first round of the Northern European Cup taking place one week later at Monza on 23/24 April.
