Podium Palmer climbs to second in the standings Paul Ricard

Will Palmer remained firmly in contention for the 2017 Formula Renault Eurocup championship with a podium and double points scoring performance at Paul Ricard in France this weekend (26-27 August).

The R-ace GP driver made good ground on his championship rivals with a fine drive to third place in the first race of the weekend on Saturday, swiftly following that performance with a fifth place on Sunday.

Will rose to from seventh on the grid to run fifth early in the first encounter of the weekend and made the most of an incident between Sacha Fenestraz and Robert Shwartzman to climb to an eventual third position.

Will fought hard on Sunday to claim fifth position on the road, but he was later elevated to fourth following a post-race exclusion for Shwartzman. As a result he will head away from the French circuit in second place overall, still with a good chance of fighting for the crown.
